Here I was, feeling sorry for myself being here in this ghastly heat, hotter than it’s been in months, it seems. Poor plants, horses, rattlesnakes.
To make myself feel a little better, I checked the weather down there in Death Valley. Imagine how it will feel when it rains, adding humidity to searing heat. Now it seems positively cool here! And it soon will be, with an over-30-degree drop in the high temperature only four days from now!

Oh my god, that's horrible! I'm SO glad I'm not there right now.
I heard from a friend who's spending the summer there, and she said their thermometer topped 130 the other day.
That's hot alright. Ugh.
