As Hilary grew up and started impressing people with her remarkable drawings and sculptures, I was relegated to being called “Hilary’s dad.” Now Benjamin is charming the people of Furnace Creek in Death Valley and turning his mom into, not Hilary, but “Ben’s mom.”Hilary’s dad; Ben’s mom. Hm-m. The cycle repeats.
